The losses continue to pile up for the 4-14 New York Knicks, with Sunday's 86-79 home defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat marking New York's fourth-straight setback and sixth loss in their past seven.
After Sunday's loss, Carmelo Anthony addressed Amar'e Stoudemire's comments from Friday (after an embarassing 105-78 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder) where Stoudemire ripped the team for its effort level and called the team's record "unacceptable."
“He has his opinion,’’ Anthony said, via Marc Berman of the New York Post. “Sometimes we go out there and it’s like we don’t want to be out there. We’re not giving effort like we’re supposed to. As leader of the team, he had the right to step up to the plate.’’
Stoudemire, far from backing off of his comments, reiterated his position on the current state of the team after Sunday's loss.
"At this point we need to look at ourselves in the mirror and see if we put forth the effort we need to win individually,’’ Stoudemire said.
