The New York Knicks originally announced that Andrea Bargnani would miss the first three games of the 2014-15 NBA season with a strained right hamstring. It appears he will miss even more time than that.
Knicks head coach Derek Fisher said on Sunday that it is unlikely that Bargnani will return to the floor during this, the second week of the season.
"Hopefully, it's soon,'' Fisher said, via Al Iannazzone of Newsday. "That's the best answer. I think Andrea's progressing.''
The Knicks enter a stretch of four games in five night this week, with no practices scheduled past Monday. For Bargnani, a return next week when the team plays every other day (and thus has more practice time) seems more feasible.
"I don't think it's fair to put a player out there who hasn't really had an opportunity to practice and see how his body responds to the physical demands of playing the game,'' Fisher said.
"Next week might be a better week to start to dial in when he might be back.''
