In today's edition of Knicks coaching rumors, we have a new top candidates for the team's head coaching vacancy - and it may not be someone you're expecting. Who is it? Who will round out our list? Keep reading out Top 3 Knicks Coaching Candidates As Of May 25th to find out:
3. Brian Shaw
It's hard to know what to believe in today's NBA. You'd like to be able to take Brian Shaw's word that he isn't moving from his post as Denver Nuggets head coach. However, in a world where contract leverage is necessary to get paid the top dollar you feel you deserve, Knicks president Phil Jackson's former assistant coach may just be playing the game until the team hands him the right offer.
2. Derek Fisher
The Knicks may be cursing one name and one name only right about now: Serge Ibaka. With news that Ibaka may return for the Thunder in tonight's Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, the Thunder could be very well be in the playoffs for several more days than previously expected. This means that Phil Jackson may not have the opportunity to talk to his personal top candidate for awhile yet.
1. Tom Thibodeau
Bleacher Reports' Ric Bucher reports that "there's only one place that Thibodeau would really push to go elsewhere, and that's to go back to the New York Knicks."
Question 1: Is Phil Jackson listening and willing to share center stage with one of the best coaches in the game today?
Question 2: If so, what could the Knicks provide in a trade with the Bulls to pry Thibs away from the Windy City?
Keep your eyes on this one. It could get fun really quickly at Madison Square Garden.
