In today's Knicks news update, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson is planning to meet with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Derek Fisher this week, presumably about the team's vacant head coaching position.
Per Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com (via Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report), the much-anticipate meeting is very close to happening:
Sources told ESPN.com that Jackson is planning to connect with Fisher by week's end after giving the Oklahoma City Thunder guard some time to decompress after his team was eliminated Saturday night in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.
This comes on the heels of the NBA fining Jackson $25,000 for tampering, after he mentioned Fisher as a top candidate while he was still an active member of the Thunder.
With Oklahoma City now completely out of the NBA Playoffs equation, Phil Jackson is free to both mention Fisher and meet with him about potential job opportunities.
