Breaking: Carmelo Anthony to re-sign with Knicks on five-year deal

It's time to relax, New York Knicks fans. Melo is returning to the Big Apple.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Carmelo Anthony will sign a five-year contract to return to the Knicks, ending months of rumors and speculation surrounding the seven-time NBA All-Star's foray into free agency:

After spending the first seven-plus years of his career in Denver, Anthony was shipped to the Knicks in February of 2011 as part of a blockbuster three-team trade. Since then, the Knicks have made the NBA Playoffs on three occasions - with 2013-14 marking the first season during Anthony's time at MSG that the team has failed to qualify for the postseason.

The 2012-13 NBA scoring champion had many options other than the Knicks to choose from this summer, with teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets laying out the red carpet in their attempts at recruiting Anthony to their respective cities.

However, all of that is over now as Melo is scheduled to make his commitment to remain in New York for the next half-decade.
