The New York Knicks are without a pick in this year's NBA Draft. However, the Knicks reportedly want to trade into the NBA Draft this year. They've held workouts with several players projected to go in the second round, and that's likely their target range. While a lack of picks this year will make a trade difficult, here are three potential draft day trades the Knicks could make:
3. Move Into Early Second Round
Knicks Get: No. 35 overall pick
Celtics Get: Future draft pick
The Celtics already have a nearly full roster and simply don't need a second round pick right now. They have five second round picks and it'd be a major surprise if they kept them all. With the Knicks looking trade into the draft, Boston makes perfect sense as a trade partner. While any of those picks could work, we'll use No. 35 as the target for the time being. The Knicks don't have much to offer Boston and shipping a veteran makes little sense. But they could deal a heavily protected first round pick that becomes a second rounder if the Knicks can't make the playoffs in a few years. That seems like a fair deal.
2. Move Into Late First Round
Knicks Get: No. 29 overall pick
Spurs Get: Future draft Pick
This ends up being similar to the previously mentioned Celtics-Knicks trade. The Spurs can acquire a future pick in this deal, one they can either trade again or use on a European player to stash for a few years. The Knicks would need to lessen the protection on any deal into the first round, which could make this a bit tricky to actually pull off.
1. Move Into Middle Of The Second Round
Knicks Get: No. 47 overall pick
Magic Get: Future second rounder
The Knicks could trade with any number of teams in the middle of the second round. We're picking the Magic because they have two second rounders and could part with one. The Knicks would need to give up an unprotected future second rounder to make this deal happen. The Knicks would likely be interested in dealing a veteran, but that might be a little too tricky to pull off.
