The New York Knicks have made everyone on their roster (other than Carmelo Anthony) available for trade, and they're poised to make several moves before the trade deadline. Who might they target to get?
Lance Stephenson, SG, Charlotte Hornets
Stephenson is the most-talented player the Knicks could get their hands on, and Charlotte is openly trying to trade him. He would provide them with a desperately-needed perimeter defender, more outside scoring, and an above-average passer. The Hornets went on two winning streaks while Stephenson missed 14 games with an injury, and have since demoted him to a bench role. If the Knicks want to look past his history and think Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson. can handle his personality, this move would make a lot of sense.
John Henson, PF, Milwaukee Bucks
Henson would give the Knicks something they really need – a shot-blocker. Henson is 6’11″ and runs the floor extremely well, yet he’s been buried on Milwaukee’s bench as head coach Jason Kidd has favored smaller lineups. The Bucks are rebuilding, and Henson doesn’t seem to be part of that rebuild, making him expendable. New York could give up some veteran pieces (Jose Calderon?) to help Milwaukee sure up their lineup.
Meyers Leonard, C, Portland Trail Blazers
Leonard has been buried on Portland's bench behind Robin Lopez, Chris Kaman, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Thomas Robinson, but has flashed potential in limited minutes. He's 7'1", 22 years old, and still has a year and a half left on his rookie deal, meaning the Knicks could get him for cheap while they see if he fits into their future plans. Leonard has a good shooting touch from the post and from the perimeter, runs the floor well, and is a solid defender - he just needs to work on his consistency. The Blazers like him, but there might not be enough room on their roster.
