The New York Knicks have explored multiple trade opportunities as president Phil Jackson has said he's "open to anything." Here are the three trades they're most likely to make:
3) Trade No. 4 pick, cash to Sixers for No. 3 pick
This slight move up would ensure the Knicks would be able to draft D'Angelo Russell or Kristaps Porzingis, whoever they like more, without having to worry about what Philadelphia does. The Sixers are all about acquiring assets, and they'd gladly take some extra cash to only move back one spot.
2) Trade cash, future second-round pick to Spurs for No. 26 pick
According to RealGM, the Knicks “are in active discussions offering cash considerations to acquire a draft pick in the late first-round to early second-round range.”
The end goal for the Knicks appears to be drafting French big man Mam Jaiteh, who is a projected early second-round pick, but is rising quickly up draft boards. San Antonio doesn't have any glaring needs and have expressed interest in trading back, hoping to acquire more assets.
1) Trade No. 4 pick, Tim Hardaway, Jr. to Suns for Eric Bledsoe, No. 13 pick, No. 44 pick
The most likely partner for the Knicks would likely be the Phoenix Suns, who are trying to move up and have put Eric Bledsoe on the block as bait, according to the Sporting News:
The Suns had talks with the Knicks about dealing the fourth pick for point guard Eric Bledsoe and the No. 13 pick, but Phoenix has not been limited to the Knicks in that regard. The Suns have been dangling Bledsoe in trade offers this offseason and are likely to continue to do so after the draft if Bledsoe is not moved this week, sources confirmed.
The Knicks have expressed heavy interest in Frank Kaminsky, and move would put them in the range Kaminsky is expected to fall in the draft. Giving up a talented young player like Hardaway may seem like a lot, but getting a player of Bledsoe's caliber would make it worth it.
