Joe Namath was drafted by the New York Jets out of the University of Alabama and became pro football’s first true media star. His Super Bowl guarantee earned him mythical status in Jets history when he led them to a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III on Jan. 12, 1969.
