I know I'm not the only parent who drops his kids off at school these days and wonders this: If the next unthinkable tragedy happens in my town, who in that building is going to run into a hail of bullets to save them?
The art teacher? The principal? The janitor?
The football coach?
It was a football coach who sacrificed his life trying to protect as many students as possible on Wednesday in Parkland, Fla., and the men who hold that job in New Jersey were not surprised. They know, the next time the gunfire starts in a school, that they might be next to turn their bodies into a human shield.
