Eight months after cleaning house following the worst four-year streak he’s had as the owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson is close to finding out whether the $270 million in salaries he handed out this off-season will bear fruit.
The Jets, who haven’t had a winning record since 2010, have been an on-field disappointment for Johnson. A locker-room fight on Aug. 11 that left his starting QB Geno Smith sidelined with a broken jaw couldn’t have helped his disposition. But off the field, the Jets have been nothing but a success story for Johnson.
