Will Jets' preseason opener springboard Chris Herndon to starting tight end role?

Perhaps the Jets' most intriguing non-quarterback position battle entering training camp involved tight ends Chris Herndon and Jordan Leggett.

Herndon is a rookie, having been drafted in the fourth round by the Jets this year. The Jets drafted Leggett in Round 5 last year, but he missed the entire 2017 season with a knee injury.

So who would win the Week 1 job in this camp?

Lately, Leggett has taken himself out of the competition, with an undisclosed injury. So the job appears, right now, to be Herndon's for the taking.
