Why would any team agree to trade with Jets for Eric Decker now?

The Jets want to get something for wide receiver Eric Decker, even as they have decided -- and publicly stated -- that they don't want him around in 2017.

Decker, 30, is coming off hip and shoulder surgeries, but he still has some good football left in him, as coaches like to say when a team fires players -- as the Jets did Tuesday with Decker and their 10-year middle linebacker, David Harris.

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan told a room full of reporters -- who dutifully reported the information -- that the Jets would cut Decker if they couldn't trade him.
