Why this Jets-Patriots matchup will be just another game

The border war has become a bore.

Remember when Jets-Patriots week had some juice? Rex Ryan vowing not to kiss Bill Belichick’s rings. Wes Welker making foot jokes. Bill Parcells. Curtis Martin. The idea that the Jets could actually compete with the Patriots inside the AFC East.

Those days feel long ago. Sure, the Jets could play well on Sunday against the Patriots — they usually do at MetLife Stadium (the last five have been decided by a touchdown or less, with the Jets winning two). But does it even matter? The Jets’ season is over.

A win on Sunday would be window dressing on another terrible year.
