NEW YORK -- Running back Matt Forte is one of the Jets' most prominent veterans, so he played a significant role in Saturday night's team meeting, as the Jets decided to lock arms during Sunday's national anthem, rather than kneel in protest.
Before the Jets beat the Dolphins on Sunday, they answered President Donald Trump's vulgar criticism of NFL players who protest the anthem -- by standing as one, with arms locked. Acting owner Christopher Johnson joined the players in the arm-locking show of unity.
"Everybody's consensus was that what America needs right now is the vision of unity," Forte told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday.
