Why Jets' Sam Darnold would feel 'really comfortable' about starting in Week 1

PHILADELPHIA -- For what it's worth at this point (very little to nothing), Jets coach Todd Bowles on Thursday night refused to state the obvious -- that rookie Sam Darnold will be his Week 1 starting quarterback on Sept. 10 in Detroit.

Bowles, after the Jets' preseason finale at the Eagles, claimed he hasn't made a starting quarterback decision yet, let alone informed Darnold about his Week 1 status.

"I'm not making that decision right now," Bowles said.

OK, fine. Darnold and Lions coach Matt Patricia will surely both be stunned when they find out.
