Why Jets' Matt Forte thinks John Morton was in 'tough spot' during lackluster debut

FLORHAM PARK -- John Morton won't reflect fondly on his NFL offensive coordinator debut -- a 21-12 Jets loss Sunday at the Bills.

The Jets gained just 214 yards -- their fewest since Week 6 in 2014 (204 yards). In Buffalo, the Jets managed 38 rushing yards. That's a losing formula for any football team on any level.

The Jets' top two running backs, Matt Forte and Bilal Powell, ran just six and seven times, for 16 and 22 yards, respectively. Quarterback Josh McCown, no Hall of Fame gunslinger, threw 39 mostly short passes.
