Anybody with a brain knows what is going on with the Jets' quarterback situation this week, based on how practice reps have unfolded.
The Jets are getting rookie Sam Darnold ready to start in Friday night's third preseason game, against the Giants. He has worked with the starters all week.
Yet Jets coach Todd Bowles has refused to confirm the obvious about Darnold starting, ahead of Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown.
Why, exactly?
"It's preseason," Bowles said. "There is no competitive advantage."
OK, so that isn't Bowles' reason.
