What we learned about Jets' Sam Darnold during OTAs | Strengths, weaknesses, next steps

Here is a look at how Darnold compared to Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater during the three open (to reporters) OTAs:

McCown: 49 reps (all first-team), 21-of-26 passing, one interception

Bridgewater: 39 reps (zero first-team), 17-of-23 passing

Darnold: 68 reps (17 first-team), 24-of-40 passing, one interception

On the practice field, it's been pretty obvious that Darnold has a nice rapport with the Jets' first-year offensive coordinator, Jeremy Bates. Granted, we're not talking about crazed, in-game moments when Darnold would have to face some criticism from his coach (Bates also coaches the quarterbacks).
