NORTH CALDWELL -- The Jets didn't hide their interest in this year's quarterback class. Near every able-armed passer spoke to one of the team's talent evaluators at the NFL Combine or their Pro Day, then took a pre-draft trip to One Jets Drive.
It was surprising. Not from a roster standpoint -- the Jets needed a quarterback -- but from a political one. Last year, they drafted Christian Hackenberg in the second round.
And what did Hackenberg think of the Jets' harmless but notable flirting?
"Don't read the articles," Hackenberg said at teammate David Harris' charity golf event Monday.
