Thirty-two years later, another Testaverde will be a Buccaneer.
Vincent Testaverde, the son of former Tampa Bay and Jets quarterback Vinny Testaverde, will take part in the Bucs’ rookie minicamp next month, according to TampaBay.com. In 1987, the elder Testaverde was taken first overall by Tampa Bay.
His son, who grew up in the area, threw for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns in his lone season at Albany, while competing 53.4 percent of his passes for 214.2 passing yards a game. He attended Texas Tech initially before transferring to Miami and later Albany.
Testaverde is taking part in the May 10-11 minicamp as an invited tryout.
