Penalties in Sunday’s loss to the Titans left Jets coach Todd Bowles fuming. On Wednesday, he went back to work trying to get his team to cut down on them.
“We work like heck on them, obviously individually and as a group,” Bowles said. “We keep them down during the week. Guys just have to concentrate at key times in the game.”
The Jets are nowhere near the most penalized team in the league — they are 20th, with 78 total penalties. But their penalties seem to always come at the most inopportune times. They seem to always commit penalties on third down or in key points in the game.
