HOUSTON – The Jets continued to fill out their coaching staff Wednesday, announcing the hiring of Stump Mitchell as the team’s new running backs coach.
Mitchell spent the past four seasons in the same position with the Cardinals, where he worked with Jets coach Todd Bowles from 2013-14, and left the staff in recent weeks.
The 57-year-old Mitchell replaces Marcel Shipp, who was fired after the season. Mitchell takes over a group currently headlined by Matt Forte and Bilal Powell.
Mitchell has 15 years of NFL coaching experience with the Cardinals, Redskins and Seahawks.
