Herman Edwards doesn’t expect Todd Bowles will be nervous on Sunday. Excited, not but nervous.
This week Bowles will don his headset for the first time in the regular season as the Jets head coach. Edwards was in the same spot 14 years ago.
“Nah, I don’t get nervous,” Edwards, now an analyst for ESPN, said in recalling his first game. “Nervous is when you’re not prepared. . . . Todd’s a guy that’s always been prepared his whole career, as a player and as a coach.”
The same was echoed by another former Jets head coach, Al Groh, who said he remembers feeling confidence in his team’s game plan heading into his first contest with Gang Green.
