You could see Brandon Marshall’s excitement as soon as he came to the line in the second quarter and saw no one covering him. Marshall began signaling to quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who also saw the Tennessee defensive mix-up.
Fitzpatrick, lined up in the shotgun, hurried under center and Nick Mangold snapped it to him. He threw it to Marshall, who ran 69 yards for a touchdown that gave the Jets a 27-0 lead.
“It could have been a disaster before it started with Nick still snapping it as a shotgun snap,” Fitzpatrick said. “He realized it as well, gave me the snap as if I was under center, got it clean, threw it out there to Brandon.
