Christian Hackenberg’s NFL career continues to go in the wrong direction.
The former second-round Jets pick in 2016 was released from the Bengals practice squad Monday. He was replaced by former Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook. It leaves Hackenberg searching for his fifth team since May.
After two seasons of not playing a regular-season game for the Jets, Gang Green traded Hackenberg to the Raiders in May. The former Penn State star was cut by Oakland less than a month later and signed by the Eagles in training camp in August.
Hackenberg, who hasn’t played a down in the regular season, did get to play some preseason games for the defending Super Bowl champions, including one against the Jets.
