The Gregg Williams debate: Is Bountygate coach good for Jets?

The Jets got their man, landing Gregg Williams to lead new coach Adam Gase’s defense. Williams has a checkered past, however. Here are three positive and three negatives from his long history as an NFL assistant or head coach dating to 1990:

Positives

– Strong defenses: Williams is known for his aggressive, blitz-happy attacking style. He’s been to two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator, with the Titans and Saints, and his defenses, traditionally using the 4-3 system, have finished in the top 10 in total defense seven times. He also has led top-10 ranked defenses in points five times.
