The Jets were going to have a tough decision to make on Chandler Catanzaro, but he made it for them.
The struggling kicker retired, the team announced Sunday, and the Jets signed Taylor Bertolet to replace him.
Catanzaro missed two extra points during Thursday’s preseason loss to the Giants, which continued a rough summer for the 28-year-old, who had repeatedly missed kicks in practice.
Bertolet was with the Jets during last year’s training camp. He most recently played for the Salt Lake Stallions of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football, making nine of 14 field goals.
