Punting reinforcements are on the way for the Jets.
A source confirmed to Newsday that the team is expected to re-sign Steve Weatherford in advance of Sunday's showdown with the New England Patriots.
The impetus for Weatherford's return is the health of current punter Ryan Quigley. On Saturday, the team added Quigley to the injury report with a right shin injury and announced he's questionable for their 1 p.m. game in Foxborough.
Weatherford spent two seasons with the Jets from 2009-10 before playing for the Giants from 2011-14. He was a part of the Giants' championship team in Super Bowl XLVI.
