Standout Jets safety is right back on shelf with broken thumb

The Jets have suffered another injury in their already depleted secondary.

Safety Marcus Maye broke his thumb in Sunday’s win over the Colts, according to a source. Maye left the game in the third quarter and did not return. He had a cast on his right hand after the game.

It is unclear exactly how long Maye will be out, but he is expected to miss some time. It could be a few weeks, depending on how the bone heals and what the Jets medical staff can do to protect the thumb in a game situation with a wrap or special glove.
