Sheldon Richardson's hearing postponed

A judge Monday postponed Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson's hearing on charges relating to an arrest in July after an incident in which he is accused of driving his car at up to 143 mph while drag racing.

Richardson has been reinstated this week by the NFL following a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He faces the potential for additional sanctions over his arrest, but because of the delay in the case, the NFL might not rule on Richardson's situation until after the season.

Richardson did not appear in court Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor charges, including resisting arrest.
