They say there’s a first time for everything.
For New York Jets defensive end Shaq Lawson, his first-ever interception simply could not have come at a better time.
With four and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter and the Jets trailing by five points, Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals offense took the field looking to ice the game.
Intending to flip the ball to star rookie receiver Ja’Marr Chase on a screen pass, Burrow instead had his toss batted up into the air by the rushing Lawson, who subsequently let it fall into his arms and secure the interception as Burrow wrestled him down.
