Seven starters didn’t practice as injuries piling up for Jets

The Jets were missing nine players, including seven starters, for practice on Wednesday as the wear and tear of the season has begun to take its toll.

There were 18 total players on the injury report, including rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, who has an elbow injury that is not serious.

“It’s pretty lengthy,” coach Todd Bowles said of the injury list. “We’ll see how they come back this week and get treatment. We’ve got guys that we’re working in just in case and we’ll be ready to go with those guys.”

Bowles ruled out safety Marcus Maye (thumb) and wide receiver Quincy Enunwa (ankle), who are both expected to miss several weeks.
