Sam Darnold is going to have to earn it. The Jets aren’t going to hand the third-overall pick the starting job.
Following the third and final practice of this week’s mandatory minicamp, coach Todd Bowles announced his quarterback depth chart for training camp, and the rookie from USC is at the bottom, behind incumbent starter Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater.
“Josh will start come training camp and we’ll see what happens at the end of training camp,” Bowles said. “It will be no different from the spring going in. Competition will heat up when we’re in pads and get to camp.
