The Jets chose Sam Darnold after Kirk Cousins turned them down, and knew there would be some really rough days for the young rookie quarterback.
Darnold had one of those days Sunday.
He had his first three-interception game of his pro career on a day when the offense couldn’t get anything going. Cousins and the Vikings didn’t have the same issue, as they came into the MetLife Stadium and routed the Jets, 37-17.
Darnold was 17-for-42 for 206 yards, one touchdown and one rushing touchdown. But he threw the three picks, and had a passer rating of 34.
