Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has been medically cleared and will play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced Tuesday.
Darnold had been diagnosed with mononucleosis and was limited in practices last week. He underwent further tests Tuesday morning and was cleared for full contact.
The Jets (0-4) have been ineffectual in his absence. Behind Luke Falk, the team’s third starting quarterback of the season, the offense only mustered 495 total yards and two offensive touchdowns in three games without Darnold.
Darnold was originally diagnosed with strep throat two days after the Jets’ Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but further tests revealed that he had mono.
