FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Ryan Fitzpatrick’s eyes fluttered open around 4:30 a.m. on Monday. His weekly reflex kicked in, for the final time this season.
Fitzpatrick lay in bed replaying in his mind some pivotal moments of the Jets’ 22-17 loss at Buffalo that destroyed their playoff chances. His touchdown pass to Eric Decker. His three fourth-quarter interceptions. His tantalizing deep throw to Kenbrell Thompkins.
He thought about what he could have done better, differently, and then headed to the Jets’ complex. Misery loves company and all that.
“It’s always helpful to grieve with other people,” Fitzpatrick said.
