In April of this year, the New York Jets signed Valentine Holmes, an Australia rugby star. New York brought him in to be a return specialist. The Jets signed him via the NFL‘s International Player Pathway Program. This will have Holmes on the roster until the end of training camp, where he then could be selected to the practice squad. The Jets can’t activate him for 2019, but he can still work towards a contract for the future.
Thus far in his journey in the NFL, it didn’t hit Holmes that he was starting a new profession until he got the pads on.
