Report: Jets among NFL teams paid to salute soldiers

Patriotism isn't free.

That's apparently the case in the NFL as a recent report shows that the Department of Defense and the New Jersey National Guard have paid the Jets $377,000 over a four-year period to honor soldiers during home games.

The article from NJ.com, which cites federal contracts, reports the Jets were paid from 2011 to 2014 for the game-day shout outs to soldiers and other advertising.

The Jets' haul is just part of a larger advertising campaign that saw the Defense Department pay a total of 14 NFL teams $5.
