Report: Gregg Williams 'on the verge' of becoming Jets' defensive coordinator

Adam Gase’s first move as Jets coach could be a big one. NFL Network reported that Gase is “on the verge” of hiring Gregg Williams to be his defensive coordinator.

Gase hasn’t officially been named Jets head coach yet, but he’s working on putting together his staff. NFL Network reported that talks with Williams are “progressing” and “those involved believe it will get done.”

This would be a major get for the Jets and Gase, who is an offensive-minded coach. Williams is known as an aggressive defensive play-caller who likes to keep quarterbacks and offenses off-balance with his exotic blitz packages.
