Time can move fast in the National Football League. Tanner Purdum signed with the Jets on Feb. 2, 2010 and now the 32-year-old is the second-oldest player on the roster.
“I look up and I’m like it’s not that long ago,” said Purdum on Friday night while signing his new contract. “And I think about it though and I’m like the second-oldest dude on the team. That’s not right. It’s a little different.”
For seven seasons with the Green & White, Purdum has just done his job while appearing in 112 consecutive regular-season contests. But his eighth season will be different as the Jets released K Nick Folk and subsequently signed K Chandler Catanzaro in free agency.
