Playoffs a must for Jets? Bowles, Maccagnan differ

Making the playoffs this year is either a measuring stick for the Jets or not, depending on whom you ask.

Coach Todd Bowles was definitive about the season being a failure if the 5-4 Jets don’t make the postseason.

“For me, yes. You want to get to the playoffs every year. You don’t want to accept not going,” Bowles said. “Your goal is to get to the playoffs, so you can get to the Super Bowl. You’re trying to get to the playoffs and win the Super Bowl and that’s still our goal.”

Earlier, general manager Mike Maccagnan was not as emphatic about the season being defined on whether the Jets are playing in January.
