USC is reportedly blocking Kliff Kingsbury from interviewing with the Jets, but could Bill Belichick be Bill Belichick and swoop in to steal him?
With the Patriots preparing to lose offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to a head coaching job — just a year after he pulled out of the Colts’ job at the 11th hour — they may try to replace him with Kingsbury, according to ProFootballTalk.
Kingsbury was fired as Texas Tech’s head coach in November following a third straight losing season, but he is viewed as a bright offensive mind. He took a job as USC’s offensive coordinator last month, and while the school has reportedly denied the Jets and Cardinals a chance to interview him for their vacant head-coaching positions, Kingsbury could find his own way out by resigning and paying a low buyout fee, per PFT’s Mike Florio.
