NFL rookies are expected to have growing pains. Year one is supposed to be filled with ups and downs. Players usually do not have their breakout until year two or year three – sometimes even later than that.
The typical growth curve did not apply to the New York Jets‘ rookie duo of Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner. Not only were they the league’s best rookies on their respective sides of the ball, but they were already among the best players in the league at their positions (possibly the best, in Gardner’s case).
