Ever since special team coordinator and mastermind Mike Westhoff left the Jets, the Jets have struggled to string together a quality unit. One aspect of the special teams, the kicking game, struggled this year.
The New York Jets special teams found themselves at the bottom of the table at the end of the 2015 season, giving up two punt returns for touchdowns and showing minimal life in the return game. This dismal season lead special team’s coordinator Bobby April out the door soon after the conclusion of the season. It may have been the poor return defense by the special team that lead to April losing his job, but the kicking game may need an overhaul as well.
