New York Jets punter Thomas Morstead is dedicating his 2024 season to a close friend.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Morstead announced he would be raising money for ALS in 2024 to honor his friend Steve Gleason. Gleason played for the Saints from 2000-06, primarily performing as a standout special teams player. He retired in 2008, one year before Morstead entered the league with New Orleans. In 2011, Gleason revealed that he was suffering from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
“I’m honored to announce that I’m dedicating this season to my dear friend, Steve Gleason, and his unwavering commitment to helping as many people living with ALS as possible,” Morstead wrote.
