Although it’s been coming for quite some time now, the NY Jets have officially announced the release of cornerback Trumaine Johnson following the official beginning of the new league year, which took place at 4 p.m. EST today.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets waited until the new league year began to officially make the move because it allows them to spread the cap hit over two years. Ultimately, the Jets will save $11 million by parting ways with the 30-year-old defensive back.
Overall, Johnson’s tenure with the Jets will undoubtedly be looked at as disappointing, to say the least.
