On Thursday it was reported that the NFL has given New York Jets cornerback Brandin Echols a one-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. It stems from a dangerous incident involving the 25-year-old cornerback early last year.
In April 2022, Echols was involved in a two-car crash that left the other driver partially paralyzed. The Jets’ cornerback did not admit guilt for the accident and entered a pretrial intervention program voluntarily to avoid the charges laid against him, which was permitted due to Echols’ lack of a criminal history. Once Echols completes the 36-month intervention program, the charge will be dismissed – although the arrest will remain on his record.
