The Jets entered the start of free agency, last week, pinched for salary cap space.
And even though they've made some moves to create (and also eat up) cap space, they're still pinched.
Overthecap.com currently estimates the Jets have $2,576,841 in 2016 cap space. Only the Saints ($972,519) have less space.
The Jets created cap space by cutting cornerback Antonio Cromartie ($8 million savings), tight end Jeff Cumberland ($1.9 million), and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley ($1.3 million). That is $11.2 million in total savings.
But they also re-signed running back Bilal Powell and tight end Zach Sudfeld, and signed two outside free agents — running backs Matt Forte and Khiry Robinson.
