NFL franchise tag: Who got tagged? How much is it worth in 2018?

The NFL's annual high-stakes game of tag is almost over.

The two-week period for a team to apply the franchise tag designation to one of its players ends Tuesday.

So far, only the Dolphins (wide receiver Jarvis Landry), Lions (pass-rusher Ezekiel Ansah) and Cowboys (defensive end Demarcus Lawrence) have taken advantage of the option.

Introduced in 1993, the franchise tag allows teams to delay top talent from hitting the free-agent market with a high-paying one-year guaranteed contract.

Either Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen or USC quarterback Sam Darnold will be off the board when Giants pick No.
